Leveling Up When You Install Kitchen Cabinets
You will want to check your four foot level for accuracy before you begin to install kitchen cabinets. By doing this, you will be sure of a quality and accurate installation.
I highly recommend that you consider renting a laser level from a local rental store to get the installation off on the right foot. You will be assured of the most accurate level line possible.
It only takes a few minutes to set it up, and after you have transferred the laser line on the walls, you are ready to get started. This is when you can go around the corners of the walls and mark the level line locations.
You can then go around and connect all of the laser marks that you transferred with a chalk line. The next step is one that you should pay attention to. You will need to make sure that you pull the line as tight as possible here. It is possible that the line will sag in the middle of the wall, and this will guard against that. So, once you have used the chalk box to snap the lines, go back with the laser and double check your lines.
You can use a four foot level if you cannot rent a laser level, and you can obtain just about the same results. If you do use the four foot level, you will need to be very accurate with it.
After you have determined the high point of the floor, you can go ahead and draw the level lines around the walls. If at all possible, have someone else help you with holding the other end of the level while you level it up and draw the level lines along the walls.
By the time you get to the end of the kitchen walls, flip the level end for end and work back to the beginning. If you get to the beginning of the line and they match up, you know that your level is accurate. If you make it back to the opposite end of the kitchen and the lines are still mathced up, you will know for sure that the level is accurate. If by chance the lines do not align, your level is not accurate and you will need to either borrow one or purchase a new one.
This is the reason why I suggest that if at all possible you rent a laser level, or borrow one from a neighbor. The lines will be perfectly level by utilizing a laser level, and this is the reason that I highly suggest that you use one. Just like the foundation of a house, the level line that you establish is the same. This is where you need to pay close attention to detail.
