Have you just splashed out on a brand new kitchen only to bedriven up the wall as the rest of your household persistently slam the drawersand doors? Teenagers are probably the worst as they don't realise how quicklythey're growing or how heavy handed they're getting. Trying to tell them to notbang the doors so often usually falls on deaf ears, as teenagers are 'never' inthe wrong. However Blum hinges have developed the innovative Blumotion, asimple device which ensures your kitchen doors close quietly, even when slammedshut.
Best described as a shock absorber, the Blumotion deviceslows down and dampens the last few degrees of of the cabinet door closing.Friends and family will certainly be impressed as your kitchen cabinet doorsappear to instinctively slow down before gently easing themselves towards theclosed position. Even those teenagers who seem so intent on slamming every doorclosed will be impressed and intrigued as the Blumotion works it's magic. You'll soon be wishing you had such a device on every door in the house.
Originally designed to fit only Blum hinges, the Blumotionrange has been expanded to work in conjunction with many other 'standard'kitchen cabinet hinges. Designed to be attached by a couple of screws to thehinge side of the interior of your kitchen cabinet, these discrete dampenersare designed to last the lifetime of the cabinet and guarantee quiet closingevery time.
The Blumotion is much more than a spring in a cylinder as itfeatures a patented braking system which intuitively responds to the exertedforce. The greater the closing, or 'slamming' force, the more braking pressureis applied and a built in 'overload' safety feature protects not only your blumhinges, but the dampener itself from damage through repeated abuse. As for thekitchen door itself, a good quality door should last for many many yearswhereas a more inexpensive door may well suffer from repeated abuse.
Smaller kitchen doors usually only require one Blumotion andthey can be easily fitted by most capable of a little DIY (do it yourself). However as the door size and weight increases, then one per hinge is requiredin order to for the dampening affect to be sufficient to counter the weight andpotential slamming force of larger, heavier doors. Just use common sense andshare the load as the door hinges do when purchasing. For cabinet makers, aslim 'piston' version is available which fits into the cabinet carcass orframe, making it even less noticeable for a truly professional finish.
