How To Build An Affordable Outdoor Kitchen

In fact, according to some people, cooking outdoors is effortless because one simply enjoys the fresh air and the great view. Thus, many people desire outdoor kitchens in their homes more than anything else.

Outdoor kitchens do not actually cost a lot. In fact, you could just even make it yourself. With the great designs that you can choose from, you can start building an affordable outdoor kitchen as soon as you want it.

The basic step in building an outdoor kitchen is making a plan or a design. This plan is usually in a form that can be easily interpreted by the eyes, and that is in the form of a drawing or a sketch. The drawing will guide you in building the actual outdoor kitchen. Moreover, the drawing would also contain the measurements of the outdoor kitchen. With a working drawing, you can be assured of the minimal mistakes in the construction of the kitchen. Usually, an outdoor kitchen consists of a counter top and some grills.

The second step is building the base. This is the base of the counter that is practically the highlight of the outdoor kitchen. The base can be started by pouring the foundation. This foundation will serve as the footing of the walls. As soon as the walls are fitted with blocks and bars, the gaps left for the cabinets can be framed with braces for temporary support.

After the base is done, the third step is creating the counter top. The counter top serves as the breakfast bar and is supported by the base. It is attached to the base by fastening the counter top to the frames or the braces of the base. Openings for the barbecue and sink should be cut out accordingly before fastening the counter top on the base. There can be many designs for the counter. It can be a simple rectangular piece of wood, or it can assume other geometrical forms.

The fourth step is applying the stucco. In order to protect the counter top from the splatters, it should be covered with craft paper first. After the counter top has been covered, the stucco can now be applied. This can be spread directly on the block walls and smoothing it out with a trowel. The first coat has to be dried first before applying the second coat.

Finally, after applying the stucco, the fifth step is tiling. Tiling the counter top does not only make it more appealing but easier to clean and maintain as well. There are a lot of tiles with different designs that can be used on counter tops. Moreover, there are also a number of colors to choose from.

As soon as these are all done, you can add in some plants and other appliances to accentuate the place.
