The back of these plates are simply markedRosenthal, Ivory, Bavaria. These plates have been stored, wrapped up, for manyyears, so they are in like new condition. By the time of WWII, Rosenthaloperated 10 companies and employed over 5,000 people.

Phillip Rosenthal (1855-1937) began business in 1884 bypurchasing white ware from Hutschenreuther and selling designs, handpainted byhis wife Maria, door to door. In 1891, he established a factory in Asch, Bohemia and began production of white warefor use in his workshop. From 1897 to 1936, Rosenthal acquired factories inKronach, Marktredwitz, Selb, Waldenburg, Sophienthal, and Waldershof. Thepopularity of the Maria White and Moss Rose patterns helped the business growrapidly.

By the time of WWII, Rosenthal operated 10 companies andemployed over 5,000 people. When the war ended, Rosenthals son, Phillip,returned to Germanywhere he modernized out of date factories and reestablished lost markets.Phillip quickly rebuilt the business by reaching new markets interested in themodern shapes and artistry of his dinnerware. To this day, Rosenthal continuesto work with leaders in fashion and design to create unique tabletop designs.

As remarkably beautiful and unique as this pattern is, I amunable to put a name to it. Over the past 3 weeks I have visited everreplacement site, Rosenthaloutlet and dealer I could find. I have looked at hundreds of patterns and havenot found this one. Many of the replacement sites have names but no pictures.

The back of these plates are simply marked Rosenthal,Ivory, Bavaria. These plates have been stored, wrapped up, for manyyears, so they are in like new condition. They are heavily decorated with gold,including a circle "c" outside and inside border, a wide floralmedallion band, a band of ebony blue, with an interior gold scroll border.
