The cottage kitchen, for example, creates a simplistic look that emphasis a cabinet style with light wood tones or cabinets that are painted a light, sheer white. For those who do want to create or keep the feel of Grandma's kitchen, there is always the vintage look. Everything comes back into style eventually, but with more modern traits tucked into place, old fashioned kitchens can be more user friendly. A vintage kitchen can recreate the feel of the 1950's with simple wood cabinets and a color pallet of reds and yellows. When done right, it can create a retro look that mimics Donna Reed's comfortable kitchen where every meal was homemade and cookies were made from scratch.
